Background and Experience: 1984-1985: Judicial Law Clerk, Honorable Cameron W. Wolfe (deceased), United States Bankruptcy Judge, Northern District of California, Oakland Division. Primary responsibility to Judge Wolfe and judges sitting by assignment: Honorable Elizabeth Perris (currently, Chief Judge of the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel) and Honorable Lawrence Ollason (deceased - former Ninth Circuit BAP Judge). 1985-1986: Judicial Law Clerk, Honorable Samuel L. Bufford United States Bankruptcy Judge, Central District of California, Los Angeles Division. First law clerk appointed. Court calendar management function. Drafted first General Order on Chapter 13 Practice, later adopted as Local Rule, and also, later adopted by other districts as a model for courts throughout the Ninth Circuit. 1986-1987: Associate, Wyman, Bautzer, Christensen, Kuchel & Silbert (currently, Katten, Muchin & Zavis and Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, et.al.). Member, L.A. Bankruptcy Forum Forms Subcommittee on Court Practice and Procedures. 1987-1989: Junior Associate, Neiser, Cecchini & Ellersdorfer (defunct). Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, investment bankers, venture funds and turn around specialists represented in the course of insolvency proceedings, with purpose to recapture and redistribute net operating loss carry forwards preceding the introduction of high tech products to market. 1989-1991: Senior Associate, Rosen, Wachtell & Gilbert (defunct). As Bankruptcy Attorney for San Francisco Office of a Century City Law Firm, represented Bay Area businesses and Southern California clients. Chairperson, S.F. Bar Association Subcommittee on Professional Employment and Compensation under United States Trustee Program; associate editor for California Bankruptcy Journal. 1991-1993: Senior Associate, Smith & Smith (defunct). Represented special assets, diversified assets and liquidation departments of Wells Fargo, First Interstate Bank, Bank of California, Chase Auto Leasing, as well as creditors stock brokerage holding company. 1993-Present: Law Offices of Louis J. Esbin Represent businesses, individuals, private lenders, casinos, and others. General Counsel to start up companies. Debtor's counsel for sole proprietors, individuals and close corporations. Creditor's counsel for distressed debt traders, corporate vendors and individuals. Counsel for other parties in proceedings and actions in bankruptcy and state court. 1998-1999, of counsel to Esbin & Associates, New York, during which represented Wall Street Broker Dealers in the trading of distressed debt.
